St Teresa's Special School Ethos

Our aim is to enable the children to reach their full educational potential by scaffolding their learning and focusing on their strengths. We provide closely linked and well planned educational and therapeutic activities that demand the well coordinated and consistent approach to the needs of each child that only special schools can give.

Our vision is to provide for the unique academic, physical, social and emotional needs of our pupils. We seek to empower the children to achieve their fullest social potential and participate as fully as possible with the school, local communities, and within the child’s own environment. We aim to provide each pupil with opportunities to develop attitudes and skills that will enable them to experience a quality of life which embraces personal choice, relationships, personal development, integration and participation in community life

We are supported by the CDNT Multi-Disciplinary networks who are regularly in the school to visit and assess the pupils and provide up to date programmes for them. They include Speech and language, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Psychology services.  They give support and guidance to the class teams depending on the needs of the pupils.
